Iona Beach

No city sights, but sounds of the airport. Planes overhead, coming in for a landing, about every 90 seconds. Had no idea YVR was so busy ~

  1. When I looked at your photo I thought, “Oh, I’d like to be there. It looks so peaceful”. Then I read your note at the bottom. So much for that idea. Lovely photo though.

    • It’s funny, because even with the planes flying overhead, it is still very peaceful. I imagined who might be in the planes … visitors, perhaps, from other countries, visiting this part of the world for the first time. Somehow, I felt included in the adventure …

Yes, I was going to say that too (re peacefulness of jet planes roaring over). I like it too. I like this proximity to people going places. I think that’s why I like hotels better than houses. Yes! That’s what you said, re feeling included in the adventure, exactly! I think I like living in a tourist town for the same reason.
….Iona Beach sounds a bit like Boca de Tomates here (also a beach, under the airport plane path).
And now I wikipedia-ed it: “Iona is home to a primary sewage treatment plant, an animal refuge and a park.”
        KInd of love. 🙂

      • Rose: About hotels vs houses (or condos or apartments or whatever) …. I met a young woman at my gym, and she lives in the hotel that the gym is attached to. I thought, wow. That sounds great. She has all of those door men greeting her every day, whenever she comes and goes. And her neighbors are always different … new people from different places. Something about it is very appealing.

Yes! (Re hotels.) The apartment building I lived in in Toronto had a door man and a lot of new people, coming and going. I loved it. Where I live now is kind of like a hotel since I don’t own any furniture or linen or dishes etc. Anyway, rambling now…. The coming and the going, yes. And where I went today is also a suburb under the line of the airport as it turns out so I thought of this conversation throughout the day…. And took some photos of planes whizzing over. Going to see if any came out, now…. 🙂

    • Hi Rose! It really did feel like a “WoW” moment, and I wondered why I don’t come here more often. Such a short drive, and so close to home.
